Masters Trial Dates 2019-20
England Hockey have announced trial dates for those Masters ( male and female - over-35 thru over-80 !!) wishing
to participate in Home Nations and World Cup games throughout 2019-20.

Pam Parker - July 2019
England Hockey was saddened to hear of the news of the death of Pam Parker, a former International umpire
and long-time servant of hockey for her club, Leicester Ladies HC, Leicestershire, the Midlands and England.
She was for many years President of both Leicestershire and the Midlands and from 1984 was elected Vice-President
of AEWHA, a post she held for over 15 years. Following the merger of the women's and men's associations in 1999,
she served on the Management Committee of English Hockey as an elected member.
Pam will be remembered as a kind, loyal and much-admired colleague and friend by many throughout the hockey world.
There will be a private cremation followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Luke's Church, Thurnby LE7 9PN
on Monday, 8th July 2019 at 2.00pm. The family have requested no flowers but donations, if desired, can be made payable
to Breast Cancer Now or Prostate Cancer UK, c/o A.C. James & Son Funeral Directors, 9, Biddulph Street,

Council Meeting Updates ... January 2019
At the March 2017 England Hockey AGM, a resolution to review the structures within the sport was proposed
and passed with a 98% majority. A short paper detailing background and progress can be found here.

England Hockey has decided that pitchside urination should be treated as a Disrepute offence and offenders will
receive a suspension similar to that of a Category A Red Card or Matchday Misconduct Offence.

All Clubs should take action to stamp out this unpleasant behaviour and make their members aware that they must not do this. The sanction is intended as a deterrent to such inappropriate behaviour.
MRHA Ltd - September 2018
On 1st September 2018 'Midland Region Hockey Association Ltd' officially took over the assets, liabilities and hockey functions of Midland Region Hockey Association - the governing body for all hockey within the Midland region.
The monica 'MRHA' will henceforth represent Midland Region Hockey Association Ltd - a company limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales with Company Number 11511997, and Registered Office in Wolverhampton WV6 8PH.

England Hockey World Cup Forums.. February 2018
In January and February England Hockey is running Club Forums in counties on the theme of "Your World Cup"

Trials for England Masters O35s .. Nov 2017
With International Masters' hockey now including an Over 35s category, England Hockey are looking to introduce
official teams in this age group in 2018 with a view to participating in the World Cup in 2018.
England Hockey are inviting anyone who will be 35 to 40 on or before the 31 December 2018 to apply for a trial
to represent England Women's/Men's O35s teams. The first trial will be held in the Midlands on December 17th 2017.
Further trials are scheduled for 20th/21st January and 31st March/1st April 2018.
Players wishing to be considered should send their contact name, address, relevant telephone numbers,
email address, preferred playing position, their Hockey Club and details of any representative honours;

In addition, nominees should provide the contact information (mobile no. and email) for one referee, who may be contacted.
Closing date for nominations will be Friday 24th November 2017.

Obituary: Trevor Clarke .. Oct 2017
England Hockey and Midland Hockey are sad to announce the death of the former England Hockey Association
Director of Coaching, Trevor Clarke.
Trevor's funeral will be held on Monday 23 October at 12.15pm at Worcester Crematorium,
Tintern Avenue, Worcester, WR3 8HA.

Changes to Red Card Regulations - September 2016
The England Hockey Code of Discipline has been amended with regard to the Red Card and Matchday Misconduct Offence Regulations so that from the start of the 2016/17 season any player who receives a red card after committing a minor offence for a second time, having received a yellow card for the first offence, will no longer automatically receive a 16 day ban.
We would also stress that offences involving the use or threat of violence or verbal abuse will continue to be treated seriously and will incur a minimum 16 day suspension.
Regional Technical Official Coordinator - March 2016
England Hockey has asked Regions to formally appoint a Regional Technical Official Coordinator.
EH's expectations of the RTOC are :-
We are mainly looking for a regional contact who people can liaise with in terms of technical
officiating, to handle enquiries and co-ordinate existing officials within the region,
and to disseminate national technical officiating news to regional officials.
In addition the role should promote recruitment, training and development of officials
in line with EH policies, but this is work in progress at the moment.
The role should act as a co-ordinator for all technical appointments required at regional level - e.g. county championships or any other events held in the region.

FIH Rule Change - 26 Febuary 2016
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced changes to the Rules of Hockey, specifically
rule 13.2 which relates to the taking of an attacking free hit within 5 metres of the attacking circle.

New Chair for JRPC - January 2016
Stephen Miles has been appointed as Chairman of the Midlands JRPG and will take up the post shortly.
We thank the new MRHA President, Jeanne Freeman, for acting as Chair prior to Stephen's appointment.
